Undergraduate Programs
The School of Management and Labor Relations undergraduate programs are multidisciplinary majors that give students exposure to a broad range of topics relevant to the changing world of work. Our students gain marketable skills across many different industries, and are taught by top faculty in the field with genuine interest in their students' success.
SMLR's Human Resource Management (HRM) programs feature cutting-edge research and are taught by leading faculty in the field of human resource management. Participants will have numerous opportunities to explore the relationship between HR strategy and business success. Gain the leadership skills needed to shape the workplace in today's global business environment.
The bachelor's degree program in human resource management is a multidisciplinary major that draws heavily from business strategy, psychology, economics, and sociology. Students will gain exposure to a broad range of HR topics, gain marketable business skills without a business degree, and are taught current HR strategies by top faculty in the field with genuine interest in students' success. Participants also have the option to continue their studies through SMLR's Masters’ Advantage Plan.

The Bachelor of Science program in Labor and Employment Relations is designed so that students with at least one year of college can complete their degree through a flexible combination of online, daytime, weekend, evening, and/or off-campus courses. In addition, re-enrollment is made easy for those who must interrupt their studies, and non-matriculated status is available for visiting students who want to try a few courses in the program.
The Bachelor of Arts program in Labor Studies and Employment Relations is a broad social science major offered jointly from SMLR and the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS). Learn how to manage people well whether you work for a corporation, government, or a community organization. Apply knowledge of current issues like work-life balance or employee rights to your workplace.
Participants of our program also have the option to earn a master's degree through SMLR's five-year plan.

The Rutgers Online Bachelor of Science in Labor and Employment Relations degree-completion program is designed for individuals who have earned two or more years of college credits. You’ll study how the world of work is changing today and how that affects employees and our society. In the process you will gain expertise relevant to successful employment across a wide variety of fields.
More and more employers are requiring a bachelor’s degree for advancement within their organization because such a degree signals greater analytical skills and the ability to finish a job. This bachelor’s program is about the changing world of work, and so it will be particularly useful in advancing your career. You’ll have considerable choice in what you study: human behavior in organizations, diversity/inclusion issues, employment law, workplace leadership, collective bargaining, using emotional intelligence, labor history, and/or professional development strategies.

The Rutgers online Professional Master's in Human Resource Management (MHRM) program is designed for human resource professionals and managers/supervisors with 4+ years of experience who look to advance their careers to senior HR or management positions. The program offers in-depth human resource management knowledge and skills that will distinguish participants from their peers and enable them to communicate effectively with other executives on a regional, national and global scale. Graduates of the Rutgers MHRM program are HR subject-matter experts with high ability to connect and apply the HR function and its practices to organizational strategy within their organizations.

The MLER degree is a nationally recognized, multi-disciplinary program in which you tailor your coursework to fit your interests and professional needs. Study contemporary issues such as managing people and organizational change, ways of resolving conflict at work, and how we as a society can improve workers' lives. Take courses in person or through a mix of in-person and online courses, and you can attend on a full-time or part-time basis.

This professional program is 100% online and is designed for working professionals enrolled part-time. Courses are available year-round and typically are asynchronous – that is, you do not need to be online on a specific day/time. Usually you will have activities to do or assignments due each week.
