MHRM Application Process

Courses in the Master of Human Resource Management Program are heavily focused on HR strategy and business fundamentals. Students are required to take 12 courses (36 credits) in four broad areas:

• HR Strategy
• HR Decision Making
• HR Functional Areas, and
• HR Context Areas

An additional four elective courses (12 credits) allow students to customize their experience. See our list of courses.

Requirements

To apply to the MHRM program, you will need to submit the following:

• Resume
• Official transcripts for all college education
• A personal statement
• Three letters of recommendation (preferably at least one academic reference)
• GRE or GMAT test scores and dates*
• International Students:
  • TOEFL Scores (waived for Rutgers students and candidates that have previously received instruction in English
  • Credential Evaluation (waived for current Rutgers undergraduate students).

Update to Testing Requirements: GRE At-Home Online Testing

Admissions Standards

Our minimum standard for consideration for admission is a 3.0 grade-point average (GPA) and Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores in the 50th percentile in both verbal and quantitative sections and 4.5 in the analytical writing section. We look for 50th percentile in both verbal and quantitative on the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT), which can be taken in place of the GRE.

English Proficiency

International students whose first language is not English are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A minimally acceptable score is 575 for paper and pencil tests and 233 for computerized tests and 90 for internet based.  We also accept IELTS with a minimum score of 7.  In all cases, GPA and test scores are reviewed in the context of the whole. For example, excellent grades in quantitative courses might offset a marginal quantitative score in the GRE/GMAT, or a good TOEFL/IELTS score might offset a low verbal GRE/GMAT.
