This course explains how organizations make pay decisions and take steps to ensure the current compensation system attracts, motivates and retains employees. It highlights how to attain an objective salaries and wages structure and how to achieve internal alignment and external equity.

This course explains why unions exist and how they can contribute to employee motivation and healthy work environment. Also, the course addresses the national labor code – laws that regulate labor union activities, the process of unionization (and de-unionization), collective bargaining and trends in labor relation activities. Moreover, the course discusses the certification and decertification process, collective bargaining process, grievance process – among other subtopics.

Compensation plays a crucial role in attracting, engaging and retaining the high quality talent. This course illustrates how companies use incentive plans to motivate their employees and discusses various incentive plans that can be designed in an organization.

This course discusses the correlation between a firm’s selection process and its performance, highlights the role of person-job-fit in driving success and elucidates the methods used to assess the applicant fit. Also, the course will emphasize how the final selection is made, based on objective criteria.

This course highlights the principles of job design and job analysis and elucidates the approaches that organizations can take to both these techniques, to increase employee efficiency and motivation.

Performance Management

This course describes the design and implementation process of a good performance management system and the factors that organizations should examine for the process to be a success. It will highlight, among others, purposes of this process and how to measure performance and provide feedback.

Recruitment

This course will detail out the process of recruitment and internal/external factors affecting this process. In addition, the course will highlight various internal and external sources for recruiting, stating their advantages and disadvantages.  Moreover, it will introduce how to formulate a recruitment message and the major recruiter's attributes.

Training and Development

This course discusses the essential components of an effective training & development framework and what steps organizations must take for successful roll out of designed frameworks. It emphasizes the purposes and process of training programs - including identifying training needs, methods, types and evaluation.

Workforce Planning

This course explains the key components of workforce planning and factors to be considered while developing workforce plans. Particularly, the course investigates factors that influence labor supply and labor demand and explains the methods to address labor shortage and labor surplus.

Each course focuses on the skills necessary to be successful in the HR role and offers practical approaches for applying these skills in real-world situations.


Format

The format is online, asynchronous, and self-paced. Participants will learn the material independently; there is no student-to-instructor, or student-to-student interaction. 

The courses are structured as lecture presentation audio which are approximately 25 minutes each in duration. There are about 5 to 7 audio lectures per course which participants are able to view at their own pace. Optional readings and media specifically curated to each course are also included. There are no assignments or activities, however, each course has one quiz at the end. Participants must score 70% or higher to complete the course within 3 attempts.  

Once registered, participants will have access to the course(s). Complete all 10 modules within one year from the start of your first module and earn a Rutgers Certification of Completion. HRCI and/or SHRM re-certification credits are available for each module.
