Rutgers’ Center for Women and Work (CWW) hosted an event with Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg on Friday, January 29, 2016 celebrating the seventh anniversary of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act.

Diane Burns, Assistant Professor at the University of Sheffield, UK, discussed the mistreatment of vulnerable people while in hospital or living in residential care. She examined the forces that inhibit staff and residents from "speaking out" about poor care.

Susan Dentzer, senior health policy adviser for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and renowned health policy expert and journalist, was the keynote speaker at the Employment Relations in Healthcare Conference held on March 14, 2014 in Rutgers Labor Education Center.

On May 8, 2013 Rutgers SMLR held its 8th annual Labor and Management Conference, focused on facilitating a discussion on the health and well-being status of workers and its relationship to work. Conference speakers addressed several issues negatively affecting workers, many of whom are overworked and overstressed.

SMLR has appointed 22 fellows to study broad-based employee stock ownership and profit sharing in corporations, the U.S. economy and society. The recipients represent the largest collection of young scholars from a broad range of fields in the social sciences and humanities. They also come from some of the nation’s most prestigious institutions and all parts of the U.S.
