Kyra Sutton, earned a Bachelor’s Degree, with highest distinction, from the Honors College at Spelman College, where she studied Economics.

Immediately following graduation from Spelman, she worked for Delta Air Lines in the Corporate Forecasting and Planning division.  After working at Delta for a year, Kyra began graduate studies. She earned a PhD in Management and Human Resources from the Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University. While at Ohio State, she completed research on work-family conflict, in addition to studying the retention of female faculty members.

Next, Kyra accepted a role at the Farmer College of Business, Miami University of Ohio. While at Miami University, she was recruited by Auburn University. Upon joining Auburn, Kyra quickly became engaged with the community and she was asked to lead Auburn University’s SHRM chapter. In addition, Kyra was invited to join the board of the Women’s Leadership Conference. She presented each year during the Annual Auburn University Women’s Leadership Conference. Kyra also partnered closely with the Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs and led workshops on a variety of topics including career branding, diversity & organizational recruitment practices.

Kyra left Auburn and took a position at Assurant. She reported directly to the Global Vice President of Talent Acquisition. Early in her tenure she assumed several responsibilities including designing and deploying Assurant’s first enterprise pre-employment assessment program. She designed training programs for the recruitment team and working on specialized projects to help the business attract talent in difficult to fill roles (e.g., Sales & IT). She led the Assessments Steering Committee and developed competency models (e.g., leadership team, recruitment team).

Kyra joined Pitney Bowes where she was hired to lead assessments across the organization. She was responsible for leading 4 global, project teams where the goal was to identify, select and retain the best talent. She was also responsible for coaching HIPOs and managing vendor relationships. The senior leadership team recognized her for the Training Program Kyra designed and delivered to over 500+ frontline leaders.

Kyra joined Rutgers School of Management and Labor Relations in 2018 as a faculty member and teaches a variety of human resource management courses, mentors students, and works with the Rutgers HR Advisory Board.
