Workforce study programs that enroll community college students often do not have consistent requirements for math and English gateway classes. These programs may also use different strategies to prepare students to meet minimum skill levels.

The purpose of this study is to identify how workforce study programs have math and English requirements in community colleges in either basic proficiency or completion of gateway courses. The project will also explore the strategies colleges use to ensure minimal competence in math and English for students to succeed in these programs.
