The self-nomination process officially concluded on March 24, 2025.

Here is a brief outline of the SMLRAA election process:
March 24-April 13 – Review all submissions
April 22-April 25 – Announcement of SMLRAA nominees
April 25-May 2 – Election of new leadership team members
Early May 2025 – Announcement of election results & start of new term!














Job Descriptions for SMLRAA Executive Board Members
Responsibilities: The President shall be the chief executive officer of the Association and its Board of Directors, and shall have the authority to carry out all duties necessitated by that office. In concert with the other members of the Board, the President shall define, and may amend from time to time, the duties of the other officers of the Association. The President serves as the primary spokesperson for the alumni association. The President sets strategic goals with the Vice President in the beginning of the term and works with the Vice President on completing all strategic goals.
Prerequisite Qualifications: Serve in a leadership position in an organization (whether at work, professional organization, etc.) and is SMLR Alumni
Preferred Qualifications: Served on SMLRAA Board (e.g., Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer), led a Committee within the SMLR Alumni Association
Responsibilities: The Vice President shall assist the President and discharge such duties as may be assigned from time to time. The Vice President oversees SMLRAA's committees (except Communications) and works with the President to complete strategic goals set by the President.
Prerequisite Qualifications: Serve in a leadership position in an organization (whether at work, professional organization, etc.) and is SMLR Alumni
Preferred Qualifications: Lead a Committee within the SMLR Alumni Association
Responsibilities: The Secretary/Treasurer shall maintain all records and meeting minutes of the Association and will have charge of all funds of the Association and maintain a record of all receipts and expenditures. The Secretary/Treasurer will maintain email communications and oversee the Communications Chair’s Committee. Finally, Secretary/Treasurer will work with Vice President on forecasting each fiscal year’s costs.
Prerequisite Qualifications: Rutgers Alumni
Preferred Qualifications: Volunteer on a SMLRAA Committee
Responsibilities: The Chair shall be responsible for University relationships, working with the Rutgers University Alumni Association (RUAA) & Rutgers Alumni Association (RAA), building HR/LR relationships and on-going development. Either the Chair and/or President should be in primary contact with Rutgers, RUAA, and RAA.
Prerequisite Qualifications: Serve in a leadership position in an organization (whether at work, professional organization, etc.) and is SMLR Alumni. Volunteered/volunteers at RAA & RUAA.
Preferred Qualifications: Served on SMLRAA Board (e.g., President, Vice President), led a Committee within the SMLR Alumni Association. Held a leadership position at RAA & RUAA.
