Building Leaders, One at a Time...

For more than fifty years, the Union Leadership Academy (ULA) has provided an outstanding leadership development program for NJ union members and leaders. The curriculum is designed to equip emerging leaders with new knowledge and effective skills, which have advanced the leadership position of many graduates in their unions and in their communities. Classes are held at several convenient locations throughout the state. Take a class today and become the leader you want to be tomorrow!

All classes will be held remotely, via Zoom until further notice. 


ULA Certificate Requirements

Participants must complete six courses to receive the Union Leadership Academy Certificate. Course completion requires attendance at five out of six class meetings per course. While the program begins in September, learners may enroll in individual courses at any time.


ULA Courses

The ULA provides classes on a variety of topics that are important to all workers, including rank and file union members, shop stewards, and new and aspiring union leaders. NOTE: ULA classes are designed exclusively for union workers. Managers and HR professionals should visit our other labor relations certificate programs.

Admission Requirements

ULA classes are designed for union members, leaders, and staff. For HR professionals and integrated labor-management programs, please see our many other certificate programs.


Cancellation Policy

No refunds will be issued. Cancellations made three business days prior to the date of a class will receive full credit toward any future courses offered by LEARN at Rutgers University.
