On July 20-22, 2016, Rutgers University’s Center for Innovation in Worker Organization (CIWO) convened 20 senior leaders from key labor, economic justice and community organizing networks to build a community of practice and learning as part of CIWO’s “Building the Bench” leadership initiative.


On Wednesday, July 13, 2016, Rutgers SMLR's Center for Innovation in Worker Organization (CIWO) co-hosted an afternoon forum, “Bargaining for the Common Good: Lessons from Los Angeles and Beyond,” with the Kalmanovitz Initiative for Labor and the Working Poor at Georgetown University in Washington, DC.



On May 21-22, Rutgers' Center for Innovation in Worker Organization (CIWO) at the School of Management and Labor Relations hosted a two-day convening on “Bargaining for the Common Good” in collaboration with the New Jersey Education Association and the National Education Association.


On May 12, 2016, Rutgers' Center for Innovation in Worker Organization (CIWO) at Rutgers School of Management and Labor Relations (SMLR) convened local and national labor unions, worker centers, community organizing groups, and civic tech innovators for a day-long meeting at the National Education Association in Washington, DC, focused on innovation in membership building.


We are pleased to announce that Rutgers' Center for Innovation in Worker Organization (CIWO) Director and Professor Marilyn Sneiderman has been elected Vice President for Universities at the United Association of Labor Educators (UALE).


On February 12, the Jobs with Justice National Conference in Washington, DC kicked off with an energetic and inspiring networking breakfast for women in labor and community organizations.


On February 11, 2016, the Center for Innovation in Worker Organization (CIWO) at Rutgers School of Management and Labor Relations convened close to 40 participants at the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) in Washington, D.C. for a discussion about membership-building and income generation for worker and community organizations in the economic justice movement.
