The Center for Innovation in Worker Organization (CIWO) at the Rutgers School of Management and Labor Relations is teaming up with Georgetown University on a multi-year project to increase women’s leadership in the labor movement.








Over 120 participants from national and local labor unions as well as racial and social justice community organizations gathered during March 29-31, 2017 at the Tommy Douglas Center in Silver Spring, MD.


The Bargaining for the Common Good (BCG) – Racial Justice conference was co-sponsored by the Action Center on Race and the Economy (ACRE), Kalmanovitz Institute for Labor and the Working Poor at Georgetown University, and Rutgers SMLR’s Center for Innovation in Worker Organization (CIWO).


The first MALLI retreat focused on Strengthening Individual Leadership and included 30 participants from labor union and partner organizations from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, West Virginia, Maryland/DC, and Delaware.


Midwest Academy, a national training institute that advocates for social, economic, and racial justice, is honoring Rutgers School of Management and Labor Relations (SMLR) Associate Professor Janice Fine with its prestigious Progressive Leadership Award on December 14.


On October 6-7, 2016, Rutgers SMLR’s Center for Innovation in Worker Organization (CIWO) hosted the Labor and Research Action Network’s (LRAN) two-day logistics conference at Rutgers’ Labor Education Center.
