Organizations achieve their greatest success when executives, human resource professionals, and labor representatives work together to create productive, collaborative workplaces. Recognizing the growing need for this capability, the Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management and the Rutgers School of Management and Labor Relations have partnered to offer an Executive Learning Certificate that equips professionals with the knowledge, skills, and practical strategies to build stronger labor-management relationships and achieve better organizational outcomes.

The Partnership

This collaboration brings together the distinct strengths of two nationally recognized institutions. For more than 80 years, the Rutgers School of Management and Labor Relations and its predecessor, the Institute of Management and Labor Relations, have advanced cooperative labor-management practices through innovative education and research. The Weatherhead School of Management has helped people in organizations strengthen leadership capacity, develop human capital, and improve organizational performance through world-class executive education and organizational development programs.

The Program

Grounded in the fundamentals of collective bargaining and labor relations, this six session certificate provides a comprehensive understanding of negotiation, contract administration, dispute resolution, and mediation in both the public and private sectors. Participants learn from the world-renowned faculty of Rutgers SMLR and Case Western Reserve Weatherhead, gaining practical tools to resolve conflict constructively, strengthen labor-management partnerships, improve bargaining outcomes, and develop organizations that are more resilient, collaborative, with leaders prepared for the challenges ahead.
