Near for Far: Future of Work

The School of Management and Labor Relations Alumni Association (SMLRAA) hosted its third virtual forum on July 21, 2020. Jordan Schoen (SMLR) moderated the panel and asked insightful questions to our three expert panelists, while Juan Alvarez (SMLR) lead audience Q&A.

Jeff Bucklew (SMLR), Courtney Davidson (SMLR), and Ryan Brown discussed how they and their organizations have learned (and continue to learn) from the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and how they are preparing for the future. Key lessons include communicating emphatically, frequently, and transparently. The panelists also discussed current safety measures their organizations are taking to protect their employees, as well as how they are re-skilling and redeploying their current talent. Audience members asked questions about specific HR programs to accomplish these goals and also asked about how the panelists would characterize their own communication style with employees and that of their organizations.

We thank each of the panelists for their participation in SMLRAA’s forum and for their contributions to making this a highly informative and insightful event. Thank you to our three accomplished panelists for their contributions to our July 2020 forum!
