Monday, Oct 24, 2016

On Tuesday, October 18, 2016, Jean Whelan, Ph.D., RN, from the University of Pennsylvania's School of Nursing, described and discussed the role played by professional nurse organizations and other groups in developing the structure and conventions of nurses' work in the early twentieth century during a special presentation at the Labor Education Center.

Attendees explored how nurse organizations and other groups function and how they shape the labor market. Discussions were also centered on whether the many workforce issues and problems experienced by nurses today are the result of the early legacy of ways in which nurses organized their work.
