International Student Association: Presentation Skills Training

SMLR Professor McCune will lead a Professional Presentation Skills Training Program for SMLR's international students. Students will have their videotaped presentation evaluated, and they will be provided with a baseline assessment of their presentation skill proficiency.

Our Expectation

The ability to make effective presentations to a variety of audiences is a critically important skill for HR professionals. Further, there’s considerable variability in the presentation skill level among HR professionals, so it is a key differentiator for success on the job to have the right presentation skills.

Our Objectives & Workshop Session

The International Students Association (ISA) Professional Presentations Skills training program is designed to enhance international student’s presentation skills through a series of assessments, seminars, skill workshops and practice sessions. The schedule is as follows:

Session I. Presentation Fundamentals

This workshop is offered to all students who complete the video assessment and covers the knowledge and skills necessary to make a professional presentation.

Session II. How to Deliver an Impactful Presentation

This workshop is offered to all students who complete the Fundamentals Workshop and covers the skills necessary to use storytelling to deliver a more memorable and impactful presentation.

Session III. Telling a Story with Data

This workshop is offered to all students who complete the Fundamentals Workshop and teaches how to make and deliver a persuasive business case using charts and data.
