Impact of Mental Health First Aid Training for Fire and EMS

This project explores data gathered before and after a Mental Health First Aid training for Fire and EMS given to fire fighters and fire officers from three New Jersey fire departments (Perth Amboy, Bloomfield, and Carteret). A pre- and post-training survey was administered to participants to gauge the impact of the training on participants’ knowledge and attitudes/stigmas about mental illness as well as to test social distancing behavior and to gauge participants’ confidence in helping others as well as their help-seeking behavior.
