Developing Exceptional HR Leaders

The primary focus of the Strategic Human Resource Leadership Council is to develop the talent of HR professionals so that they are able to meet the challenges facing the field in the 21st century. We seek to give current HR leaders the resources they need to help their organizations grow and compete, while training the next generation of HR leaders with skills appropriate to the changing nature of their profession.

Graduate Programs in Human Resources

Human Resource Management graduate students can take courses—taught by the most frequently published and cited HR faculty in the United States—toward one of two graduate degrees: the Master of Human Resource Management  or the PhD in Industrial Relations and Human Resources. The PhD program is composed of courses taught by faculty from both the Human Resource Management and Labor Studies and Employment Relations Departments, while the Master’s program is taught by faculty from the Human Resource Management Department. In addition, Rutgers offers the Global Executive Master’s in Human Resource Leadership  program to prepare individuals to assume senior HR positions in leading international corporations. This program features a one-of-a-kind, accelerated schedule at four distinct locations around the world—each representing an important segment of the global economy

Undergraduate Programs in Human Resources

Rutgers University offers both HRM major and HRM minor options to its undergraduate students. The BA in Human Resource Management (HRM)  is a joint degree from the School of Management and Labor Relations (SMLR) and the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS).  It is a multidisciplinary major that draws heavily from business strategy, psychology, economics, and sociology. The HRM minor consists of 18 credits in Human Resource Management including Introduction to Human Resource Management, four courses from the concentration and one elective course from the potential electives offered by the School of Management and Labor Relations. Rutgers also offers a combined 5-year Bachelors & Masters program.
