SMLR held a reception on November 24 to honor the school’s 20th anniversary. Gabrielle Carteris, an actress known for her role on the television show Beverly Hills 90210 and who serves as executive vice president of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Radio and Television Artists (SAG-AFTRA), attended as a guest speaker. More than 150 people attended the celebration.

WINGS Welcomes Three New Sponsors

Women Investing In and Guiding Women (WINGS) welcomed three new sponsors in 2014. PSEG, Avon and Covance have joined Wells Fargo, Johnson & Johnson and Accenture to provide outstanding mentoring opportunities for Rutgers undergraduate women students. Thanks to these six companies, 60 Rutgers students are gaining valuable insights from experienced business women about how to make the transition from college to the workplace.

Undergraduate Team Wins Third Annual HR Case Competition

On November 21, 2014, five teams of HR students completed the final round of the HR RU SHRM/Jim Chelius/ADP HR Case Competition. The five teams were judged by ADP's leading executives.

SMLR's Corporate Social Responsibility Convening

On October 28 to October 29, 2014, SMLR's “Corporate Social Responsibility Convening” of more than 100 high level leaders and staff from approximately 70 unions and community and workers’ organizations was held at the Labor Education Center, with the goal of furthering corporate social responsibility (CSR). Participants engaged in strategic, hands-on training on CSR by analyzing several case studies and sharing their organization’s campaign experiences.
