Dr. William G. Castellano Appointed Executive Director of Rutgers’ Center for Management Development

Rutgers Business School (RBS) and the School of Management and Labor Relations (SMLR) are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. William G. Castellano as Executive Director of Rutgers’ Center for Management Development.  Sponsored jointly by RBS and SMLR, CMD serves corporations, other organizations, and individuals by designing and delivering high quality executive education programs covering a wide range of management topics.

Dr. Castellano, who has served as Acting Executive Director for CMD since October 2012, brings an extensive background in both the corporate and higher education worlds.  In addition to a bachelor degree from Pace University, he holds master and doctoral degrees in Human Resource Management from Rutgers.  His nearly 30 years of experience in industry includes 17 years at Merrill-Lynch, where he was Senior Vice President for Global Staffing from 1997 to 2002.  Since returning to Rutgers in 2008, he has served both as a faculty member and an administrative leader in SMLR and CMD.

Glenn Shafer, Dean of RBS, says "Bill has the vision for executive education that RBS and SMLR needs, and he has demonstrated his ability to execute his vision.  As a highly respected faculty member with a joint appointment between our two schools, he will be able to marshal Rutgers’ top talent in executive education in a way that we have not done before.  His leadership will enable Rutgers to compete at the highest level in this important arena."

Susan Schurman, Dean of SMLR, says "Bill has been an outstanding member of the Human Resource Management faculty in SMLR.  He’s an outstanding teacher and, as the first Director of our new undergraduate HRM major, managed its amazing growth reaching over 500 majors in its first two years.  We’ve already seen how his vision and focus will benefit our executive programs."
