Mid-Year Fellows Workshop Brings Together More Than 80 Scholars

On January 11-13, SMLR held its annual Mid-Year Fellows Workshop in Honor of Louis O. Kelso which brought together more than 80 scholars from the School of Management and Labor Relations’ (SMLR) Fellowship Program, focused on studying broad-based employee stock ownership and profit sharing in business and in society. They were joined by visiting scholars, SMLR Ph.D.students, faculty mentors, and special guests from around the world at the Heldrich Hotel and Conference Center in New Brunswick, NJ.

Worker Centers: Community Based and Worker Led Organizations

Worker centers are community-based and worker-led organizations that organize, advocate and provide services to low wage workers, many of them immigrants. The cornerstone of centers is a base of workers who reflect on their experiences, place them in the context of race, gender, class and the global economy and take strategic action on their own behalves to campaign for transformative public policy, workplace and societal change.
