Conference Room Rentals

 The Labor Education Center (LEC) offers classroom and conference room rentals and conferencing services for unions and all other organizations at reasonable rates. The Labor Education Center  is easily accessible from all major highways and has ample parking space.

Public Sector Labor-Management Relations

This four-course certificate program helps students develop a broad perspective on public sector labor-management relations issues—involving teachers, Rutgers university employees, police officers, and other public employees. As a student in this certificate program, you must take either Public Sector Employment Issues or Public Sector Collective Bargaining (or both). You can then select 2–3 additional classes from the following:

Labor and Employment Relations Certificate

This certificate program in the general area of labor and employment relations involves successful completion of four graduate courses offered by the Labor Studies and Employment Relations Department. The courses must be selected in consultation with the Credit Director of the MLER program. Usually, one of these courses will be the Introductory Seminar in Labor and Employment Relations, because that class offers a wide overview of the field.

Tuition and Fees (Fall 2014 - Spring 2015)

The percentage of tuition and fees increases are determined in early July every year by the Rutgers Board of Governors, not the individual colleges. 

The mandatory fees below must be paid once each semester, regardless of the number of courses taken.

There is an additional fee of $100 per online course.

In preparation for beginning your Rutgers education, we ask that you join us on campus to learn more about our program, meet with an academic adviser and select courses for the upcoming semester. 

Returning and school-to school transfer students are highly encouraged to register for an Academic Planning and Advising session as well as complete the below necessary steps as needed.


Our faculty members are leading researchers nationally and internationally in the field of labor and employment relations. We conduct rigorous research and publish findings that assist workers, unions, labor-related organizations, and policymakers to respond to emerging labor, employment, and collective bargaining issues. We also undertake research projects on a contract basis for unions and labor-related organizations.

On December 1, Union Leadership Academy (ULA) held a shop steward training session for International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 68 in West Caldwell, NJ. Attendees, seen above, will advance their leadership skills through ULA’s classes.
