Alumna Jennifer Chiu, MHRM'13, Guest Speaks at The HRM Open House

On November 6, 2013, the Department of Human Resource Management (HRM) held open houses for its undergraduate and graduate programs at the Livingston Student Center. Professor Charles Fay, director of the undergraduate program in HRM, and Professor Dave Ferio, director of the graduate program in HRM, spoke with nearly 50 prospective students about the benefits of studying HR at SMLR.

Jennifer Chiu, who graduated from the MHRM program in May 2013, attended the open house as a special guest speaker. She detailed her experiences as a student as well as her career trajectory before and following graduation.

“I began working in IT and got interested in the field, but I needed more of an HR background,” says Chui, who joined the master’s program as a full-time student. After highlighting her typically busy work week as an employee at MSG Global Solutions, Chui credited Rutgers program with helping her to expand her knowledge.

“I gained robust information from the professors in the MHRM program. I love Rutgers and will always recommend it to people,” says Chui.

With nearly 600 majors, the undergraduate human resource management program is currently the fastest growing major in Rutgers history. It is complemented by a master’s program human resource management—one of country’s top programs in HR. Maria Luisa, an event attendee and HRM undergraduate major, counts these strengths as items that appealed to her as an undergraduate. They are also what interest her in joining the master’s program.

“I know Rutgers’ master’s program in HR is top notch. I know the faculty, and they really care for students,” says Luisa. “I know I won’t get that anywhere else.”
