Gaya P. Agrawal, as a workshop instructor and facilitator, is bringing over 30 years of global industry experience in information technology, project management, finance, and management to the Rutgers Project Management portfolio of programs.
His education includes a Master’s degree in Commerce (Finance), a Law degree and a Master’s degree in Management (MBA) from the Calcutta University, while working in the roles of production planning, marketing, and sales in the paper manufacturing industry. In addition, Gaya earned a Master’s degree in Library & Information Science from Catholic University and worked as a Director of Library Services at Robert Morris College (now Robert Morris University).
His industry experience of three decades includes Westinghouse Electric Corporation (lamp division)/Philips Electronics, where he worked in the Corporate IT department and became experienced in various functional areas of information technology and logistics, including production planning, forecasting, inventory planning, distribution resource planning, material requirement planning, and business requirement planning. He is certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) by the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS).
Gaya has participated in number of projects where technology was considered as a part of the solution, including Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). Projects ranged from domestic to global, corporate headquarters to sales force, and inventory control in distribution centers and plants. He worked in various roles of project management from project initiation, technical planning, procurement management, financial control, and project closing. Gaya is certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) by the Project Management Institute (PMI).
His academic affiliation as an adjunct faculty with Rutgers University for the last 25 years maintained an on-going learning and sharing knowledge network. Gaya also taught a number of online courses related to Management Information Systems and Project Management at graduate and undergraduate levels within various other universities. Implementation of project management concepts, tools, and techniques with students in Management Information Systems and Industrial Engineering majors was helpful in their application to industry solutions.
