Approximately 310 SMLR students and 2,500 guests gathered in the Louis Brown Athletic Center on May 12, 2012 to celebrate the school’s 9th annual Convocation. Dean Susan J. Schurman, the presiding officer, and SMLR’s faculty proudly acknowledged the hard work of students within the school’s undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs in human resource management (HRM) and labor studies and employment relations (LSER).

SMLR Students Receive Awards & Honors for Academic Achievement

SMLR students were recently honored as academic scholars during Rutgers University’s 2012 Academic Excellence Award and Phi Beta Kappa ceremonies.

Ten SMLR sophomores received the University’s Academic Excellence Award at an honorary event held at the College Avenue Gym on April 22. The scholars were recognized for being among the top 10% of sophomores from all schools at Rutgers’ New Brunswick/Piscataway location. Award recipients were chosen based on their grade point average.

"Social Change" Class Occupies New Location During Tent State University

Beneath one of the many white tents residing outdoors at Voorhees Mall during the annual Tent State University, approximately 40 undergraduate students explored fundraising strategies in Professor Janice Fine’s course, “Organizing For Social Change.” The class gathered within the event’s makeshift town hall on April 18, 2012 to listen as Professor Fine and Marjorie Fine, veteran fundraiser and principal consultant and trainer at The Linchpin Campaign, lead the training session.
