SMLR Gathers Scholars From Around The World, Addresses Employee Stock Ownership

SMLR welcomed over 70 scholars from across the country and the globe as the school hosted the annual, Mid-Year Fellows Workshop in Honor of Louis O. Kelso on January 12-14. Researchers addressed broad-based employee stock ownership and profit sharing in a global economy.

On September 26, 2013, Barbados Senator Harcourt “Harry” Husbands, a 1997 graduate of SMLR’s master’s program in labor and employment relations, returned to Rutgers as a guest speaker in the Introduction to Labor Studies & Employment Relations class, taught by Carla Katz. During his talk, Senator Husbands stressed how a degree in labor and employment relations can lead to a diverse set of opportunities.

Rutgers Study: Overwhelming Majority of New Jerseyans Support Paid Sick Days

The Center for Women and Work (CWW) has released an issue brief on the subject that finds an overwhelming majority (83 percent) of state residents of all political affiliations support paid sick day policies.
