Full-time students typically receive funding for a total of five years upon entering the program (assuming the availability of funding). Students are expected to work as research or teaching assistants during this time. Receipt of funding is contingent on continued satisfactory progress in the program, which requires demonstrating English fluency, successfully completing all courses, preparing a master's thesis, passing the qualifying exam as scheduled, and defending the dissertation.
Part-time students are not eligible for financial aid from the doctoral program.
